Year after year, the prestigious automotive consulting firm, JD Power, carries out the “APEAL” study. In it he analyzes the valuation of car buyers in the United States. Next, we delve into the best rated brands according to JD Power.
With you, America’s diverse auto market. This presents a range of possibilities when choosing whether they are factories of the local industry, such as Ford either Teslaor brands that bet on the US market from other countries, such as Toyota either Lamborghini.
The truth is that we are facing a market, with an annual sales volume, which serves as a unit of measurement for the automotive industry. At the same time, the culture and territory of the United States they have particular characteristics, which have developed an affinity with the automobile that is difficult to find in another region of the world.
The JD Power Consulting analyzes, makes reports and even rewards different categories of the automotive market. It is a prestigious consulting firm, based in Michigan, founded in 1968 by James David Power III. Hence his name.
Recently, J.D. Power published its annual study APEAL –Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout-, and it analyzes the preferences, trends and personal tastes of market customers. This is carried out thanks to 37 variables that the study has.
The APEAL It is divided into two: premium brands -which are those that have the entire fleet framed in “luxury cars” and brands. Let’s focus on what brings us together today: premium brands.
Which factory do US customers highlight?
With a score of 888, the highest rated brand of the USA it is porsche. The German house repeats the highest position in the study for the second consecutive year. Last year he had obtained 882. In other words, he improved his appreciation even more during this last calendar year.
However, who escorts Porsche? According to this study, there are two brands that actually finished very close to Porsche. The first is Genesis -Luxury car brand of Hyundai Motor Group- that ended with 886 and the third is the local Cadillac with 885. As you will see, only 2 and 3 points behind porsche.
It is interesting the varied result that gives the APEAL study. porsche is an emblematic brand of Europe, Genesis -Hyundai- is a representative brand of the oriental industry, particularly of South Korea and Cadillac, finally, is a Native American brand. In other words, there is no pattern of origin that guides these results.
It would be wrong to postulate that US customers “prefer” or value the European automotive industry more. Although it is worth noting that the position 4 and 5 of the study is occupied by two other German brands: Mercedes Benz -876 points- and BMW -875 points-.
The trend of porsche upward, in the valuation of the North American client, is enormous news for the stuttgart house, since -as we said- it is a broad market, with a huge purchase volume. Much more quantitative than the German market, of course.
The spiraling growth of plug-in hybrids and 100% electric in USA and the avant-garde incursion of the porsche taycan in the main markets of the planet, perhaps they explain, at least somewhat, this phenomenon.
