The new BMW iX has given much to talk about, downplaying the controversial grille of the new BMW 4 Series, which is no longer so crucial. And it is that this new electric SUV from the Bavarian firm has aroused all kinds of feelings, and many of them looking to generate discord. Faced with criticism caused by the design of the new iX, BMW decided to draw its weapons and defend itself on social networks. The problem? The use of a meme that has not sat too well with a large majority.
And the fact is that the German house has made use of the phrase ” Ok, boomer “, an expression that is born by the younger generations to attack in a pejorative or derogatory way those elderly people who display a retrograde mind. BMW, which has interpreted the attacks on its new iX as a clear sign of a closed mind, has decided to dispense justice by applying this expression.
“What is your excuse for not changing?” asks BMW and sentences with a “the first BMW iX” in its controversial advertising campaign. This has not sat well at all and a virtual crowd has pounced on the German firm, mainly on Twitter, the social network in which the brawl took place. And it is that within this group of people who have been offended by the movement of BMW we find many lovers of electric mobility, but retractors of the iX design.
OK, Boomer.

Faced with such a commotion and seeking not to further tease the masses, BMW has taken out its most cordial and polite side and has done what is wise: apologize. With a second post on Twitter, the German house clarified that “no matter how old you are, we will listen to you. Sorry, we didn’t mean to insult anyone with this meme. ”
But the thing does not end there, since BMW assures that “the change towards this new mobility is complicated, but we hope that you will join it with us.” We do not know how the brawl will have ended, but we trust that it can be redirected and given a chance both to the new BMW iX and to the public, who also have to assimilate this wild wave of electric vehicles that is coming, covered by new technology and new canons of design.
Be that as it may, BMW continues with its electric offensive, which seems to be currently being led by the new iX, a model that will set the path of a new breed of 100% electric vehicles.
