The B-segment of SUVs is extremely popular and enjoys great prominence in the market. Currently, the SEAT Arona is the undisputed best seller, but it has many other outstanding rivals: the Hyundai Kona, the Peugeot 2008… and this Škoda.
If we look at the sales made during the first six months of 2022 in Spain, we will see that the SUV segment continues to be predominant and that best-selling models such as the Hyundai Tucson, the Toyota C-HR or the Volkswagen T-Roc are clear examples of it.
But also the SEAT Arona, the undisputed king of the B SUV and that until May it was the best-selling car in Spain. And this despite the fact that this Spanish product is not lacking in rivals, since it is not in vain that it belongs to one of the most competitive and nourished categories on the market.
«The Škoda Kamiq stands out for its excellent value for money, complete equipment and habitability»
Also popular models such as the Renault Captur (15th), the Hyundai Kona (22nd), the Peugeot 2008 (8th) or the KIA Stonic (21st) are also a great product of their respective brands but, for some reason, they do not succeed in the same way in the sales ranking. Only the French sneaks into the top 10 sales with 8,453 units accumulated in the first half, far from the 11,707 units sold for the Arona.
But there is another rival, which fares even worse, which is not only based on the same platform as the Arona, but is cheaper and better: the Škoda Kamiq.
Skoda Kamiq vs SEAT Arona
Like the SEAT Arona and the Volkswagen T-Cross, the Škoda Kamiq (the 43rd best-selling car in Spain in 2022 with 2,914 units) is based on the platform MQB-A0 of the Volkswagen Group. This gives it a length of 4.24 meters to fit, like its brothers, in the B-SUV segment.
As a good Škoda that it is, the Kamiq stands out for its excellent value for moneyits complete equipment and its habitability inside, although it is also true that it lacks the character of some of its rivals.
Points in common between the SEAT Arona and the Škoda Kamiq:
- MQB-A0 Platform
- TSI 95, 110 and 150 hp petrol engines
- Bifuel engines (CNG) TGI 90 CV
- 400 liter trunk
Óscar Magro tells us all the secrets of the SEAT Arona.
Compared to the Škoda Kamiq, the SEAT Arona is a less round car overall. The Spanish also stands out for its equipment, in addition to its design, but its internal quality is inferior and also its dynamic behavior.
It is also more expensive, although the truth is that the difference is, in general, small. For example, the access versions of one and the other differ only by 97 euros with the Motor.es offer included. As we advance in equipment and engines, the price gap between the two growsalthough always in favor of the Czech SUV.
Differences between the SEAT Arona and the Škoda Kamiq
- The Kamiq is 9 cm. longer
- The Kamiq is 1 cm. wider
- The Kamiq is 2 cm. higher
- The Kamiq is 9cm. more than battle
- The Arona is 36 kg. lighter (access version)
- The Kamiq has more top speed
Javier Gómara tried the Škoda Kamiq as soon as it was presented.
Of course, the Kamiq has a drawback that may be decisive in its sales: since its launch in 2019 it has remained unchanged (although its renovation is already underway), while the Arona received a restyling in 2021. Enough argument in its favor? The market responds with a resounding yes, what do you think?
