Nintendo has remained one of the greats in the Video Game Industry, and its titles have positioned themselves as the jewels of many players around the world. With this, various groups of enthusiasts have made impressive strides in reverse engineering and Nintendo games.
Something that seems quite striking to us is that initially this led to the creation of ports of Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nintendo 64 classics, for PC. The community has worked to improve the appearance of the titles to levels previously unexpected.
Now, a software developer known as Darío will be taking part in all this work to make other Nintendo 64 games look amazing on PC. This will be possible thanks to a plugin that will allow you to enjoy console titles at more than 60 fps, with ray-tracing and other adjustments that really improve the appearance of Nintendo 64 games.

Darío explained that he will adapt RT64, a tool used in the port of Super Mario 64, to bring ray-tracing and other optimizations to other games on the Nintendo console. For this he will make an open source plugin that can be used in various emulators.
This novelty will allow players not only to apply ray tracing, but will also add motion blur, support for widescreen monitors, use of DLSS and frame rates per second higher than 60 fps. This will only be usable on compatible games initially, so support will have to be manually added to titles over time.
The project is still in an early stage of development, but it has already surprised us with the spectacular results it offers. Its creator shared some previews of what will be possible in titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Snowboard Kids, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon and Rocket: Robot on Wheels.
“I started this project a month ago as a way to optimize the PC port backend [de Super Mario 64] as much as possible, and I quickly realized that it could become an emulation solution that would allow me to apply these improvements to many more games, “explained the developer.
He also stated that its launch is still a few months away, but that it will provide all the facilities for its use and so that the community can later experiment with the tool and thus improve it or add custom configurations.
