They create a network of complaints on Twitter to expose inappropriate videos posted on TikTok.
They seek to raise awareness in parents about the use of the app in minors.
They highlight new security measures for the platform, but ask that they be further strengthened.
TikTok has become the favorite social network for millennials and centennials, where they seek to connect with people similar to their interests and sense of humor; however, many experts have denounced trends and practices on the platform where minors are put at risk just to get followers and likes on their content.
And it is that, despite the recent security measures implemented by the Chinese social network, which include filters to prevent the publication of sensitive videos where infants or adolescents appear, Complaints from users and experts under the premise that “TikTok is not for children” are becoming more and more frequent.
The United States is one of the countries where complaints about inappropriate and dangerous content are concentrated, as minors seek to get a large number of likes “at any cost” to viralize at least one of their videos.
“Between 2019 and 2021, the number of investigations into child exploitation and Prohibited content related to TikTok by US Homeland Security has increased sevenfold“, reported the Financial Times.
The international media report explains that the alarm comes from the 155,000 videos reported on TikTok itself last year, since all the efforts promoted by the application are focused on child sexual exploitation, but there is still a long way to go in terms of risky trends.
TikTok was already in January 2021 among the top 10 positions in the ranking of social networks with the highest number of active monthly users Worldwide; in Mexico alone there are 19.7 million usersyes
“TikTok is not for children”, movement in networks
A renowned teacher and computer judicial expert has sparked a debate around the viral trends of TikTok that put minors at risk.
Duchement made a thread viral on Twitter where it shows cases and examples of children and adolescents exposed to the infinity of practices that the tool shows. In the first complaint, published yesterday, the expert refers to a group of young people giving Viagra to their classmates against their will.
A video of minors recording themselves in the classroom, during school hours and drugging their classmates (without their knowledge and without their consent) with Viagra, likes #TikTok

“This is precisely what I am talking about here: #TikTok applauds and protects videos in which children are drugged with sexually stimulating drugs, and censor the popularizers who alert us and treat the underlying problem, there is only one conclusion“.
“A #TikTok is it cool that children are drugged with sexually stimulating drugs? Because if not… let them explain it to me, because they always make the same ‘mistake’. The problem is allowed and promoted, while the solvers are censored and silenced, ”the specialist wrote on his Twitter account, where the direct allusion was made due to the removal of some publications and complaints from activists.
And it is that Duchement is one of the spokespersons of the campaign #TikTokIsNotForChildren, initiative that seeks to highlight children’s problems in the Chinese social network and promote social awareness among parents.
The movement arises from a case in which a primary school teacher showed one of her students on video in a swimsuit and attracted hundreds of comments uploaded from all over the minor, which caused groups of parents and groups of human rights put pressure on the platform to toughen its publication measures, something that was heard at the beginning of 2022 with a plan for censorship and protection of minors that activists still consider ineffective.
As I see that there are people who still do not understand the danger that it would mean for a girl (Primary school student) if her teacher exposes her in a swimsuit before her almost million followers (of those who like to watch videos of girls) on the network more plagued by child predators… pic.twitter.com/zFoTy5F1QY
