An olfactory exhibition at the Prado National Museum
In room 83 of the Villanueva building, Alejandro Vergara, Head of Conservation for Flemish Painting and Northern Schools at the Prado National Museum, and Gregorio Sola, Senior Perfumer at Puig and Academician at the Perfume Academy, have created an olfactory journey around the work “The Smell” by Jan Brueghel and Rubens. A piece that evokes the garden of unique trees and plants that Isabel Clara Eugenia and her husband had in Brussels at the beginning of the 17th century.
Through the sense of smell, the visitor approaches the painting. They have created ten fragrances related to elements present in painting. Among them: Allegory, which invites you to stop looking at the corsage
of flowers that the allegorical figure smells; Gloves, which reproduces the smell of an amber-scented glove according to a formula from 1696; Higuera, which will encourage us to recognize this plant in the scene and Flor de naranjo, which will direct our attention to the stills.
A beautiful way to accompany the sense of sight and an entire experience that is possible thanks to AirParfum technology and the 4 diffusers on the Samsung touch monitors available in the room.
Open until July 3.
