It has been one of the premieres that have marked these first weeks of 2022 and it already has a great reward (for us). HBO Max has renewed ‘The Peacemaker’ (‘Peacemaker’) for a season 2. This has been announced by both James Gunn, creator of the series, and John Cena, its protagonist via Twitter.
A renewal that does not catch too much by surprise due to the success that the series was reaping, which together with the good reviews, made the spin-off of ‘The Suicide Squad’ something very sweet to leave it in only eight episodes.
More peace based on extreme violence
The news comes just hours before HBO Max premieres the eighth episode and last of the season and let’s see how the butterfly conspiracy is resolved. James Gunn has stated:
“Creating ‘The Peacemaker’ has been one of the milestones of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max. To have something that we all love so much being loved by the audience has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for you to see where the Peacemaker team goes in season two!”
Yes, for now we don’t know details about this season 2 of the series. Season 1 has featured a cast consisting of Cena, Jennifer Holland, Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Chukwudi Iwuji, Freddie Stroma, and Robert Patrick.
James Gunn wrote all the episodes, directing five of them. The rest were handled by Jody Hill, Rosemary Rodriguez and Brad Anderson. On this occasion, the filmmaker will write and direct the entirety of season 2.
