The conclusion of the third day of testing at the Mandalika circuit, Indonesia, has marked the end of preseason 2022 MotoGP. Teams and drivers already have their sights set on the first Grand Prix of the season, which will take place between March 4 and 6 in Qatar. A race that is expected to be exciting due to the apparent leap forward that some structures have taken during the tests held these days. Pol Espargaró has taken over the best record of the day with a time of 1:31.060 confirming the good sensations of the new Honda.
On this third day of testing the activity has been concentrated in the first section of the session. Most of the pilots attempted the ‘time attack’ before the midday break. In fact, the man from Granollers achieved the time that has earned him the best time of the three days of testing on lap 10 of the 38 that he has completed. Fabio Quartararo was second, just 14 thousandths of the Spanish after achieving a record of 1:31.074.

Aleix Espargaró set the third fastest time of the day, more than three tenths off his brother’s record. Franco Morbidelli and Pecco Bagnaia completed the ‘top 5’. The one from Ducati finished the day injured in his right arm after being hit by a stone. Alex Rins got sixth place in the time table followed by Maverick Viñales, Johan Zarco and Brad Binder. The group of the ten best of the day was closed by Álex Márquez.
Marc Márquez settled for the fourteenth fastest time of the day, seven tenths behind his teammate. The six-time world champion in the queen category didn’t even make a fast lap attempt when you feel pain in your shoulder. The one from Cervera knows that he is not yet one hundred percent physically, but he is satisfied to finish these tests with best feelings than those experienced at the end of the previous tests in Sepang.
The Spanish Jorge Martín has finished in twentieth position. The bitter note of the day has been the absence of Joan Mir due to gastrointestinal problems. Neither was Raúl Fernández able to complete the session, who retired after only seven laps. The KTM rider suffered a fall on the second day of testing when he was traveling at more than 200 km/h. The man from Madrid suffered a concussion after receiving a strong blow to the head, but received medical clearance to go out on the track. However, a new fall caused by the loss of speed perception led the Spaniard to terminate his participation.
