More elaborate animations according to reality
According to Xiaomi, when you touch something in reality there is a response in the form of force or unique movement. The new MIUI 12 animations have been worked to make the experience of navigating the interface unique. Xiaomi has worked a lot on pressing on the different interface elements. You have a couple of examples in the following tweets:
In our physical world, things have gravity and speed. If we touch something, we’ll get a force feedback and the feel of resilience. With our physics engine, you will get feedback of every movement on the phone screen and every movement is tangibly real #DecadesMasterpiece #MIUI12 pic.twitter.com/fSg7HX9vJd

New dark mode with better contrast and in all applications
With MIUI 11 Xiaomi presented a dark mode for the entire interface. This dark mode is now updated to reach not only all parts of the interface but also all applications. Even apps that are not adapted to dark mode will be darkened. Yes, it is very similar to what Google announced in Android 10. Now the immersion in the dark mode will be greater and better.
Simpler and more visual adjustments
It cannot be said that the settings of Xiaomi phones are too confusing, but they will be simplified even more. Xiaomi has announced a new panel of settings for mobiles that update to MIUI 12. It will be easier, with larger buttons and the explanations of certain sections will be more visual. The best example is found in storage management and its new way of showing how full the device is.

New MIUI 12 camera with new interface and more options
Yes, the camera is another of the most important changes that will come with the MIUI 12 update. The interface is renewed, new shooting modes are added and some details are simplified. In general, it is a camera application that tries to simplify its interface, but in turn offers more settings and content for users.
New permissions more advanced and with more information for the user
Xiaomi has already announced that the permissions of the applications in MIUI 12 would improve. They have done so with two main and very interesting changes. MIUI 12 adds the ability to grant certain permissions only when the app is running. This allows you to improve privacy and defend your device from possible malicious actions in the background.
A notice is also added to make the user aware that X application is using permission at the moment. This notice is very visual and will be notified in such a way that it does not go unnoticed. In general, app permissions are now better controlled and easier for users.
Ultra Battery Saver mode to squeeze 5% of the battery
We have already told you on several occasions that it is not good to make your battery drop below 15%, but if you are in an emergency situation and need to do it, Xiaomi has included a mode called Ultra Battery Saver. This mode squeezes out 5% of the battery remaining in your device to make it last 5 times longer. It’s not free, of course, but it will limit the device’s actions to those strictly necessary in an emergency situation.
The weather app is updated to be even more beautiful
Xiaomi has focused on making MIUI 12 a very eye-catching and pretty customization layer. One of the applications that has succeeded is Weather. Now it shows a complete interface that changes according to the weather in your location. You can know what the weather is just by opening the application and seeing what is shown on the screen. According to Xiaomi, they have been inspired by nature to create this new application.
Inspired by nature, our Weather app reflects all changes that happen outside. It's your window into the transient world. Swipe the screen to see weathers in different cities as you see in the real world!#DecadesMasterpiece #MIUI12 pic.twitter.com/pPuIWB6ZdO
