The great alternative to the famous Guitar Hero came from Ubisoft with Rocksmith. The difference? That in the latter, as happened with the less popular Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, we were allowed to play a real guitar to “play”. And to the fool, ten years have passed since his official debut.
Or almost. Technically its tenth anniversary will take place on October 18, when it goes on the market on that date, but in 2011, in the United States. And unfortunately it will be the end of it, as Ubisoft has just announced its withdrawal from digital stores next week. We refer, of course, to the 2011 version (for PS3, Xbox 360 and Steam), no to the remastering that came out in 2013.
Be that as it may, the reason is obvious: the new direction for the saga through Rocksmith +, already as a service and learning method to play the guitar (and bass). Ubisoft thanks for the support received, but it is time to focus its efforts on the next video game, which announced its delay to 2022 days ago.
If we have bought Rocksmith in physical or digital, nothing happens. We can continue playing / playing and even enjoy all the DLC for which we have paid. But from October 17 you will not be able to buy anything related to that version of 2011 neither in PlayStation Store, nor in Microsoft Store, nor in Steam.
Later the same will happen with the DLC, except in the case of Xbox 360: due to “technical limitations”, all its DLC will disappear the same day 17.
And what about Rocksmith Remastered? Ubisoft makes it clear that we can import all the content purchased to that updated version without problems.
