No one, not even your own Netflix, I hoped that ‘The Squid Game’ was going to become a worldwide phenomenon of such caliber, as it could even become the most viewed platform series of all time. A sequel seems inevitable, but its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk he wanted to make it clear that it will take a long time to arrive.
And it is that Dong-hyuk was in charge of writing and directing all the episodes of the first season alone, a process that qualifies as exhausting, given that “it took me six months to write and rewrite the first two episodes“That has led him to make it clear in an interview for Variety that it is not among his short-term plans and that he would approach it in a different way:
I don’t have a well-developed plan for ‘The Squid Game 2’. It’s exhausting just thinking about it. But if he did, he certainly wouldn’t do it alone. I would consider using a writers room and would want several experienced directors.

Dong-hyuk will most likely make at least one movie before he dedicates his efforts to ‘The Squid Game 2’, since he is currently working on the draft of ‘KO Club’, a warlike film. In fact, ‘The Squid Game’ was initially designed as a film back in 2008, but the producers’ lack of interest in the idea led Dong-hyuk to put it on hold and it took longer to turn it into a series.
The doubt now is in if Netflix will want to wait that long or if it will try to squeeze this success in some way in the meantimeWell, let’s not forget that ‘The Squid Game’ left the door open so that there could be more deadly competitions like those of the series in other countries, how about a ‘The Heifer Game’ in Spain with competitions in the style of ‘ Grand Prix ‘with a deadly twist? I would be delighted …
