Suzuki has officially announced various changes to the Jimny and Jimny Sierra range in its local market, Japan. The new Suzuki Jimny 2022 improves in terms of efficiency and presents an expanded equipment. A priori these developments are not planned for Europe, where this model is sold as a commercial vehicle.
Despite all the problems that Suzuki has faced in order to continue marketing the Jimny in Europe, the truth is that far from our borders the situation is quite different. Emission regulations are not so strict and the Japanese manufacturer can take the license to keep one of its flagship products in its portfolio. One of the most popular SUVs. And with the aim of continuing to boost their sales, various new features in the Suzuki Jimny range.
In the far and exotic Japan, the Jimny is available in two formats, the Jimny Sierra, a global model that we also find in Europe (although transformed into a commercial vehicle), and the Jimny guy kei car. Well, for both models Suzuki has presented news so that they can face the rest of the year in the best possible way. Some news that will be available in the first half of October.
Suzuki updates Jimny range in Japan
What improvements have been made? First of all, we must put our sights on the mechanical section. Models equipped with the four-speed automatic gearbox now have the Start & Stop function, which increases the efficiency level of the Japanese SUV. This technology reduces both fuel consumption and emissions. The system only works when the vehicle is in front wheel drive mode.
The other novelties have to do with the equipment. Both the Jimny and Jimny Sierra now include the automatic headlights even if they are not equipped with the Suzuki Safety Support system. In addition, as part of the supply there is also a cover for the spare wheel.
At the moment it is not clear if these adjustments will be introduced in other markets where the Jimny Sierra is sold. These changes in the range take place shortly after the Suzuki Jimny Pro began its commercialization in the European market. The fourth generation of the Jimny is gaining incredible popularity globally. A model that recently started its production in India to alleviate the workload of the Japanese factory where it is manufactured.
On Japan the Jimny is available from approximately € 11,500, while the Jimny Sierra starts at € 13,900, according to the current exchange rate.
