Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was more common for workers to move from their homes to an office. However, after everything that happened, this situation has evolved, there are more and more jobs that can be done from home without having to go to a work center. This, little by little, made life easier for many workers and employers who now spend the time they used to travel to other activities.
However, even as many jobs have gone remote or hybrid, others continue to commute and spend significant time commuting.
The hybrid work scheme is one of the most prevalent, taking into account that 27% of Mexicans work under this model, according to a survey carried out by Indeed, the number 1 employment site in the world.
On the other hand, the Indeed statement says that of the 900 Mexican employees surveyed, 24% said they work remotely and 40% do it completely in an office, but 20% of them worked for a period of time since their houses.
Even though the new normal is constantly changing, we are now more aware of the importance of time and investing it in a better way, according to our priorities or needs. In big cities like the capital of Mexico, time goes by faster and moving from one place to another takes more time due to traffic or other factors that are out of our hands.”
said Madalina Secareanu, Indeed’s senior manager of corporate communication in LATAM.
How long does it take Mexicans to commute to your office?
Around the 37% of Mexican workers invest an hour to move from home to the office, while the 24% spend two hours or morethe Indeed study revealed.
Similarly, 41% of those surveyed said that if they did not have to move they would take the opportunity to spend more time with family and friends; 18% expressed that they would use that time to develop professionally through studies or specializations; 15% responded that they would enjoy their hobbies; 13% would practice some sport; and 12% would just rest more.
The pandemic significantly changed the way we perceive a job and the need to be in a specific space to carry out certain activities. Since then we have discovered that we can reconcile work and personal life if we have the possibility to work from anywhere or simply use free time for ourselves”,
