It is much more than just a headache killer.
The aspirin is a bit like an outstanding student. In addition to relieving your headaches, this over-the-counter medication can improve your health, appearance, and even your hair. Here are five amazing uses for this well-known pill.
REMOVE BARS
Aspirin’s main ingredient , acetylsalicylic acid, helps to pop pimples and reduce inflammation, the root of redness, says Kavita Mariwalla, a dermatologist in West Islip, New York.
To treat your pizza face, crush a pill and stir it in three tablespoons of water. The consistency should be like milk, not like mayonnaise. Rub the mixture into your pimple before going to bed to help reduce the mud while you sleep.
Try this trick on fly bites, it also reduces swelling.
REDUCES THE RISK OF CANCER
Cancer cells can stick to blood platelets, but by making platelets less sticky, aspirin makes them less clotting. So the chances of cancer cells building up in your arteries decrease.
In a study from the University of Oxford, people who took a low dose (75 milligrams) of aspirin daily for five years were 20 percent less likely to die of cancer than those who did not take the pill.
They were also 8 percent less likely to die from any cause over the next 15 years.
SOFT CALLOS
Help remove these hard patches on your hands and feet by mixing three crushed aspirin tablets , one tablespoon of lemon juice, and two tablespoons of water. Rub the paste into each callus and cover it with a band-aid overnight.
Lemon juice is an astringent, explains Dr. Mariwalla, and with aspirin it will penetrate the skin and break down the hard parts. Repeat the process for a few days and your calluses will be soft enough to remove them with the edge of a nail.
REMOVE THE DANDRUFF
The acetylsalicylic acid repaired more than grains; It will take care of dandruff, too.
The acid removes the dry skin from your scalp, so the scales go down the drain and don’t stay on your jacket.
Try this: spray two aspirin tablets and mix them in enough shampoo to make a good foam. Leave it on your hair for at least 30 seconds, and rinse as usual, says Dr. Mariwalla. Do this two or three times a week to stay dandruff free for life.
FIGHT DEPRESSION
A study in the journal Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics found that people who regularly consumed aspirin over a 10-year period were less likely to experience symptoms of depression.
According to Keith Souter, author of An Aspirin a Day , the explanation may be related to inflammation: In a study from Denmark, people with the highest levels of inflammation were more likely to have symptoms of depression.
Since aspirin relieves inflammation, it can literally put a smile on your face.
