This Tuesday, March 29, Sony finally confirmed that indeed, playstation plus will integrate with Playstation Now in a new service that will also allow us to enjoy many classic games of PS1, PS2And till PSP. The truth is PlayStation It has always been home to memorable franchises, although sadly, many of them have been lost over time and it seems that the Japanese firm no longer has any intention of reviving them. Here we mention five of them that definitely deserve to return for the new generation.
PaRappa the Rapper
Essentially, PaRappa the Rapper was the franchise that basically invented the rhythm genre and created the foundation for other games like Dance Dance Revolution, Amplitude, Guitar Hero, and more. This saga turned PlayStation controls into instruments, with quite addictive rhythmic gameplay thanks to the overflowing personality and charisma of PaRappa himself. Sadly, in recent years the IP seems to have been completely forgotten and the last time we heard anything about it was in PlayStation All-Star, when PaRappa appeared as a playable character in this fighting title.
twisted metal
There was a time when vehicular combat had its own genre within video games. Due to the success of the first Twisted Metal on PS1, there were many other studios that tried to replicate this same formula, but obviously, they did not have very good results. The truth is that this genre is no longer as relevant as it used to be, however, Twisted Metal is still a very important franchise for PlayStation that deserves another chance. There are rumors that we will have a new game for the PS5, but at the moment, this has not been verified one hundred percent.
Sly Cooper
Sly Cooper is possibly one of the most beloved franchises by PlayStation gamers. The original trilogy, developed by Sucker Punch Productions, stole the hearts of thousands of users around the world and everything indicated that this IP would become one of the most important for the Japanese company. Unfortunately that was not the case, and after the release of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in 2013, this saga took a definitive break. Now, the original studio has already moved on to other projects and it looks like we won’t be hearing from this raccoon anytime soon.
Resistance
When the PS3 debuted in 2006, the reality was that there weren’t many games that were able to take advantage of this new hardware. This changed with Resistance: Fall of Man, a first-person shooter developed by Insomniac Games that quickly managed to establish itself as one of the most popular IPs on PlayStation. After five games into the franchise, it seems that Insomniac had finally found the perfect formula for this series, but sadly, they never got a chance to prove it. To date, the idea of a fourth Resistance installment sounds unlikely, but not impossible.
Jack & Daxter
At this point there are plenty of platformers for all kinds of audiences, but anyone who has enjoyed the Jak & Daxter trilogy by Naughty Dog will know how special these games turned out to be. When this studio decided to move on to more ambitious projects like Uncharted and The Last of Us on the PlayStation 3, it seems that Jak & Daxter disappeared altogether as well. Naughty Dog has already said that it is not within their current plans to return to this franchise, although they have not yet completely ruled out the possibility. That is, there is still a shred of hope.
