South Summit Madrid 2023, co-organized by IE University, announced the 100 finalist startups of its Startup Competition, which this year has broken its participation record. The finalist projects, coming from 21 countries, will compete to be crowned the most innovative startup in the world during the eleventh edition of the meeting, which will take place from June 7 to 9 at La Nave in Madrid.
The hundred projects that have entered the final phase of the competition have been chosen through a rigorous selection process among the approximately 4,500 applications submitted from 125 countries, which has been a record number in the history of the Startup Competition.
A committee of renowned investors and innovation experts has been in charge of making this choice, based on criteria such as the level of innovation, scalability, internal growth potential, investment capacity and the characteristics of the human team that make up each startup.
The finalist entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their pitch before the most relevant leaders and players in the ecosystem, including corporations and investment funds, in addition to connecting with other startups and learning first-hand about trends in the world of innovation.
The finalist startups belong to leading ecosystem verticals, such as BizDev Tech, Connectivity & Data, Consumer Trends, Education, Enterprise, Fintech & Insurtech, Health, Industry 5.0, Mobility & Smart Cities, and Sustainability & ESG.

Delta Protect: Finalist of the Connectivity and Data vertical. This startup has developed a platform that helps automate and simplify cybersecurity for small and medium-sized businesses in Latin America. They analyze their customers’ technology to quickly identify the most critical vulnerabilities that need attention. They help simplify compliance with ISO 27001, a certification that not only allows a company’s information to be safeguarded more securely, but also increases business opportunities with potential new customers. Founded in 2019 by Santiago Fuentes and Toño Arellano in Mexico City, they have a team with more than 25 years of experience in the area and already serve more than 100 companies.

nirby: Finalist of the business development vertical. It is an online platform that helps SMEs and entrepreneurs to have a presence on the Internet through web pages of high visual quality, incredibly interactive, and with a focus on converting visitors into customers, allowing companies to improve their customer service experience. Originally from Viña del Mar, Valaparaiso, founded in 2020 by serial entrepreneur Javier Luz.

educational: Finalist of the vertical of education. This startup defines its platform as a digital exercise book. Through interactive tasks related to STEAM subjects, they develop a dialogue with students and help them gradually arrive at the correct answers, just like a teacher does. In turn, they collect data from the student profiles to help them see where they stand out and where they need to improve and help them plan their professional career early. Founded in 2020 by Daria Vishlenkova.
Colombia
Kuepa Edutech SAS. Finalist of the vertical of education. Startup founded in 2019 that offers training programs that seek to connect the educational needs of young people with the demands of the labor market. In turn, it seeks to help the most disadvantaged and unequal populations through online teaching. More than 180,000 students in 18 Latin American countries have participated in its programs. Founded by Jorge García and Gabriel Sánchez Zinny, the latter is former Minister of Education for the province of Buenos Aires and Director at Blue Star Strategies.
Griky: Finalist of the vertical of education. This startup offers an online education platform for companies and universities that provides dynamic educational experiences using a teaching system that adapts to the students. Its Artificial Intelligence algorithm is in charge of identifying the relevant content for each student so that they can build their own learning path. Founded in 2018 by Andrés Núñez Álvarez, it serves more than 200,000 students through 14 universities and six companies in seven Latin American countries.

Under the motto ‘Today 2030’, an important group of national and international speakers will attend South Summit Madrid 2023, including: Pablo Isla, President of the International Governing Council of IE University; Pau Gasol, former athlete and investor and adviser on projects dedicated to sport and health; Andrew Winston, manager of Winston Eco-Strategies, and Jenny Fielding, co-founder of The Fund VC.
