Some studies recommend avoiding them around bedtime.
Many parents fight many nights, if not almost all, to get the children to sleep. In fact, sleep problems affect children around the world, but even studies have revealed that Mexican children sleep up to three hours less than they should.
For this reason, some experts comment that in addition to implementing some preventive actions to improve sleep habits, there are also some foods that we must avoid so that children sleep better and have restful sleep.
The chocolate
This delicious food contains caffeine and tyrosine, a substance that fights the need for sleep and caffeine blocks the signals of sleep and tiredness, which is also present in coffee and some soft drinks.
Sausages
Sausages, chorizo, and salami are processed meats that affect digestion because they contain too much protein and fat. Digestion becomes slower and heavier than usual, making it difficult to fall asleep or very light.
Diuretic food
Some examples are pineapple, watermelon, cucumber or celery. As they make them urinate a lot, they are not recommended at night since they will make the child have to get up to urinate several times or wet the bed. It is also recommended to avoid giving water two hours before going to sleep and just a sip if you are thirsty just when you go to bed.
Sugary foods
Avoid box cereals, cookies or jams because if children eat sugar they will have a lot of energy that will make them very agitated and overstimulated, which damages sleep habits, a child with energy due to sugar may not want to sleep and also be irritable.
Fatty food
Like potatoes, pizzas, nuggets, which are hard foods to digest and can cause nightmares and sleepless nights. Its high-fat content makes it a natural enemy of good sleep.
