Crawling is the way your baby begins his independence and exploration of the world outside of mom’s arms. Help him do it with simple exercises to improve his movements and strengthen his confidence.
Crawling is one of the most important stages in the growth of your baby, since thanks to the movement he performs, he begins to develop neural structures and a body scheme that prepares him for the next step: walking and making finer movements. By crawling, she strengthens her arms and legs and builds confidence away from Mom’s warm and confident arms.
Although some babies crawl faster than others, simple exercises can help make the process easier.
The roller
Place the baby on his tummy on a roller cushion, place some objects that may interest him in front of your baby. When trying to get to the toy, it will go along with the cushion supporting its tummy and little by little it will make it easier and without the need for the cushion.
Lizards
Place your baby on his tummy, with his little hands resting on the floor. Grab hold of your hip and lift and lower successively. In this way, he will get used to resting on his hands and knees and will feel more secure with your help so that he will soon achieve it on his own.
The funny blanket
Roll up a small blanket and pass it underneath it, at the height of your tummy and hold it above your baby from each end. In this way, you will help him feel more secure. Boost it back and forth so it rests its little hands on the floor. You control the height and pace, so it is very safe.
You are the obstacle
This exercise will help your baby improve the instinct to start crawling and learn to move arms and legs simultaneously. Lie on your back with your legs open on a soft, secure surface. Place your favorite toy on the side of your right leg and the baby on the side of your left leg. In this way, your baby must pass over your two limbs to reach the object and thus he will acquire the proper posture.
When this movement is perfect, you can put various objects such as towels, pillows, tunnels with chairs, so that he has to go through all of them and reach his toy.
Do it together with him
At first, your baby will make it insecure and it may not hold the position upside down or in four points very long, but once he has succeeded, motivate him by playing as you go for him. The feeling that you are? Chasing him? It will motivate you to try to go faster and faster and improve your crawling movements. And when you manage to get his attention completely, now change the game so that he is the one to go after you.
This stage is one of the most important for your baby, as it perfects its movements and the neural connections to achieve it.
