The truth is that the smartphone has become for many an inseparable ally. There are not a few hours throughout the day in which we use our mobile terminal (surfed the internet, social networks, games…) and honestly, this does not have to be entirely good.
Being constantly attentive to the mobile, checking if we have received notifications, entering our social networks every five minutes… are facts that could confirm that we have a certain addiction to smartphones. Not surprisingly, addiction to technology is on the rise among younger people.
Obviously using less mobile is possible. It is complicated but it is possible. For this, it is only necessary to make small adjustments in our devices and we will see how over the days, each time we turn on the screen of our device fewer times.
Disable notifications
One of the things that makes us unlock our smartphone the most is the sound of notifications. That if we have received a WhatsApp, a Like on Instagram, an email in the inbox… I do not know about you but I receive hundreds of notifications per day. This means that while I’m working, watching a movie or just in the company of other people, I stopped doing what I’m doing and picked up my phone.
Turning off notifications is the best we can do not only to be more productive in our day to day, but simply to use the smartphone less. Most of the notifications we receive are not important and if someone wants something urgent, please call us directly.
Furthermore, many of the notifications that we can receive are from the application itself. For example, Facebook notifies you that you have X contacts in common with a contact or that Twitter informs you about the latest comments from one of your followers. Unimportant notifications that are best to avoid.
In addition to notifications, one of the causes that cause us to look at the smartphone more times is social networks. Not infrequently we are focused on a task, we take a moment to see Twitter or Instagram and suddenly we realize that more than half an hour has passed.
Hence, uninstalling these apps from our smartphone is a good option and if we want to use them, do it from a computer when we have free time. In addition, deleting these apps have many more advantages, but to delete Facebook and you will check it.
Put essential apps on the smartphone’s desktop
As a general rule, we usually put those essential applications on the desktop of our smartphone that we usually use practically every day, so we do not have to look for them in the application drawer if we want to use them.
Now, there are not a few times that we put a multitude of apps on the desktop, many of which we neither use nor are essential in our day today. For example, social networks. In the event that we do not want to delete them and unless our work depends on them, it is better not to have them on the desktop. In this way, every time we unlock the terminal we will not be tempted to know what the people we follow are doing.
