These have not been easy years within Hangar 13, the Californian studio responsible for Mafia 3 and the recent remasterings of the entire trilogy. And it is that after knowing the cancellation of an ambitious project a few months ago, now the bad news continues to accumulate. In that sense, 2K announces layoffs at Hangar 13as has confirmed journalist Jason Schreier in the Bloomberg media. Likewise, Schreier’s information also offers clues about the two new titles that Hangar 13 has in its hands, which will continue to exist as before despite the cut in staff suffered this week.

A 2K spokesperson has spoken to Bloomberg and has confirmed the information about the layoffs at Hangar 13, although he did not want to specify the exact figure. “All of you who are here now are still Hangar 13 and will continue to be. 2K is fully committed to the future of Hangar 13 as the studio navigates a challenging transition period but at the end of the day promising”, commented those responsible for 2K to the staff who maintain their jobs in the company that develops Mafia 3 and Mafia: Definitive Edition.

As for what is to come, one of Hangar 13’s projects is a new installment of the Mafia franchise, as we had previously known. The other, as Schreier has been able to confirm, is a tennis game. Considering that 2K owns the franchise top-spin, it is likely to be a new episode of this saga. Two completely different titles between them and which are being taken over by a study that has suffered a significant loss of human resources, although we do not know the number.
