It was to be expected that Android manufacturers would get to work to copy the design of the current iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. Flat edges aren’t new, but we’ve never seen them succeed on Android. Now Apple has taken up this design again and the first clone of the iPhone 12 has not been long in coming. It is not a Chinese brand that nobody knows, but it comes from Huawei. The Huawei Nova 8 SE has been leaked with a design that tries to copy the latest Apple smartphones. It is quite curious because the company has taken the most characteristic parts of the new design and has implemented them in its own terminal.
Huawei is the first to try to copy the design of the iPhone 12
Apple has done a great job of design with the new iPhones, which are more beautiful than the previous ones, but also less ergonomic. Huawei already has a device with a design based on that of the iPhone 12. It is not a direct clone, as it is not sold as such, but it is the “most similar” smartphone to the iPhone 12 that exists on Android.
It is the Huawei Nova 8 SE, a high-end device that comes with interesting features. It is difficult for us to see this terminal in the West, at least under this name. If it arrives, it will most likely come under a different name.
The most characteristic of this terminal are its flat metal frames and the rear camera. It is not exactly the same, but no one can deny that the design is based on Apple’s iPhone 12. If you do not see the resemblance and the intention of Huawei you may be somewhat blinded.
Get ready, this will not be the only mobile similar to the iPhone 12
Huawei has been the first, but it will not be the last. Now that Apple has made flat frames fashionable again, Android manufacturers are already designing their smartphones with this design. Huawei will launch it shortly, but it will not be the only one. Camera modules may not look that much alike on other terminals, but flat bezels are coming to Android in droves.
Most likely, in early 2021 there will be several high-end and mid-range with this trend of flat frames and square camera modules in one corner. We do not mean to say that it is wrong, because tastes depend on what each user wants.
The Huawei thing is no coincidence
You may think that a device will not be made in three weeks and you are right. Huawei has not copied the iPhone 12 on its departure but has relied on the rumors that have been talking about flat frames since the beginning of the year. If users have access to these rumors, imagine what a multinational may know.
Huawei has known for a long time that Apple would launch an iPhone with flat frames and went to work to have a smartphone ready. The copy is legal and you may like it more or less, but you cannot deny that Huawei’s intention is to make a mobile similar to the iPhone 12 but much cheaper.
What do you think of this clone of the iPhone 12? Do you think Huawei’s move is justified?
