Honda is working at full capacity in the development process of a major update for one of the models that make up its SUV range in North America. It is the Honda Passport, the so-called older brother of the CR-V. These spy photos allow us to discover some of the keys to the face lift that is underway.
The Honda passport
landed in American dealerships back in 2019. Honda ventured into developing a new SUV with a clear goal. To occupy the enormous space that was in its range between the Honda CR-V and the Pilot. Although this model has not reached our territory, it is described as the “older brother” of the CR-V that we will not see in Europe. Now, after the passage of a few years, the time has come for it to be updated.
Honda is working at full capacity in the process of development of a tuning for the Passport. A facelift as a mid-cycle update that will allow this generation to face the rest of its commercial life that lies ahead. The new Passport has been hunted in broad daylight while conducting road tests.
Spy photos of the new Honda Passport 2022
What news will debut the Honda SUV? In the first place, we must start from the basis that we are facing a “facelift” and that, therefore, there will not be very radical changes. However, all the improvements that will be introduced will make it possible, as a whole, to update this model in all areas. The main novelties will be found in the aesthetic and technological section.
The spy photos that illustrate this article show us a prototype of the new Passport that, although it sports a considerable amount of camouflage, some keys are intuited. The most relevant aesthetic changes will be concentrated in the front of the vehicle. The grill will be renewed and the light groups updated. The bumper will also be modified. The new front will resemble that of the Honda Ridgeline.
With regard to the rear, there will also be news, although in less quantity. The bumper is camouflaged, therefore, we can anticipate that it will be revised to be in line with the changes that will occur at the front. The exhaust system outlets will also be new. And even if they are not covered, we cannot rule out adjustments to the rear drivers.
The V6 engine of the new 2022 Honda Passport
If we had the opportunity to enter the interior of the new Passport we would find ourselves in a more digital and connected environment. The infotainment system will be updated and will feature a higher quality touch screen. The connectivity and security options will be increased. By the way, we must not forget the level of customization, since it will also be increased.
On a mechanical level, based on current reports, there will be no news. That is, under the hood there will still be a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that develops a power of about 280 hp and is associated with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. In addition, you can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
