This year the 213th anniversary of the Independence of Mexico is commemorated and as is tradition in Mexico City, after the Cry of Independence, the parade will take place on September 16; which will be dedicated to the Heroic Military College for the 200 years of its creation.
September 16 parade, Mexico’s biggest festival begins
In addition to the traditional celebration in the capital, all the states and municipalities of the country organize their own national holidays. For example, in the city of Guadalajara thousands of people from Guadalajara will gather in the Plaza de Armas on the night of September 15 to take advantage of the harvest and have a pleasant time.
In the case of Monterrey, authorities organize the night of the 15th at the Explanada de los Héroes, a macro Mexican party with concerts by Intocable, El Plan and Majo Aguilar. Then, on the 16th, the traditional parade will take place, also on the esplanade, starting at 10:00 a.m.
For its part, in the city of Querétaro, after the Cry of Independence, a fireworks show with Mexican music will be presented in the Plaza de Armas, entertained by Gerardo Urquiza y su Transcendencia, and Alberto Águila. Simultaneously, in Plaza Constitución Mariachi Gama 1000 and Lucero will give a concert.
Why is there a parade on September 16?
The military parade is a solemn act that commemorates the beginning of Independence in 1810. It also pays tribute to the first parade that was carried out in our country, that of the Trigarante Army led by Agustín de Iturbide, which consummated independence in 1821, with its triumphal entry into Mexico City.
At what time and what is the route of the parade on September 16, 2023?
The military parade begins on September 16 at 11:00 am. Likewise, contingents from the National Defense, the Secretary of the Navy and the National Guard will participate, traveling almost 10 kilometers.
Likewise, the route that the contingent normally follows begins in the capital’s Zócalo, advances towards Juárez Avenue, Paseo de la Reforma and ends in Campo Marte.
