- Works purgative in addition to relieving strong muscle aches
- Castor oil is a powerful pain reliever that is massaged
Ayurveda is the name of the “traditional medicine” of India that has as a common goal the unification of body, mind and spirit, proclaiming that disease and health are the results of the confluence of three main aspects of existence.
It is an ancient practice. It has crossed borders and every day there are more holistic centers that offer it in Mexico. One of its tools is castor oil for pregnancy and this time we want to explain the uses of this liquid that not only works as a purgative.
According to therapist Lilian Pérez Millán, an expert at the California College of Ayurveda, castor oil is used during pregnancy. “For example, in the first trimester, this warm oil is used to help reduce pain (in the legs, waist and back) and to relax the female body that is undergoing transformation during pregnancy. In addition, we massage the belly so that the skin is stretched and there are no marks. ”
During pregnancy “we support women who are carrying out a pregnancy without problems or setbacks to relax, we support them to rest and we give harmony for a connection between body, mind and spirit,” said the expert.
For those pregnant women who do not have a high-risk pregnancy, Ayurveda can also be used during labor, if it is taking longer than accepted by the attending physician.
“Warm castor oil is massaged on the waist, chest, back, side of the legs, all from the outside in, are descending movements; We help women to relax and reduce pain, since castor oil has high analgesic power, although it is popularly used as a purgative, especially during the infant stage, we use it to accompany pregnancy, “says Pérez Millán.
This traditional medicine is warmth and harmony, therefore, the treatments are personalized because each individual requires certain treatments; therefore, before receiving the Ayurveda massage, people should have an appointment with the therapist to review it and determine what type of treatment it requires, “concluded the specialist.
