- Since the start of the pandemic, a sedentary lifestyle has been adopted that has increased the levels of obesity and overweight throughout the world.
- Regular physical activity helps prevent and control noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and various types of cancer.
- The new Statista Consumer Insights survey revealed the countries where outdoor exercise is most common.
After more than three years of health crisis, the world has resumed all daily activities. During this period there was a change in lifestyle due to the adoption of a sedentary mode. Since then the consequences have been an increase in the levels of obesity and overweight. To counter current figures one can start with the outdoor exercise practice.
For starters, the World Health Organization (WHO) defines physical activity as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles, with the consequent consumption of energy. Its impact is immediate and generates benefits for both physical and mental health.
From the above it has been shown that regular physical activity helps prevent and control non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and various types of cancer. It also helps prevent hypertension and maintain a stable body weight.
Physical activities indicated for adults from 18 to 64 years old
The practice of exercise is different for each person and one of the main parameters is age. The largest range of the population is made up of people between the ages of 18 and 64 and according to the WHO they must engage in moderate aerobic physical activity for at least 150 minutes per week.
The other option is to carry out intense aerobic physical activities for at least 75 minutes. They should also do moderate to more intense muscle-strengthening activities that work all muscle groups on two or more days a week.
Similarly, they should limit the time spent in sedentary activities. Replacing time spent in sedentary activities with physical activities of any intensity (including low intensity) is beneficial to health.
