The Citizen Income it is an integral part of the National Development Plan “Colombia, World Power of Life”. This initiative has been incorporated by the National governmentapproved by the Congress of the Republic and is under the administration of social prosperity, responsible for managing the distribution of benefits. Its main objective is to provide adequate income to households in situations of extreme poverty, moderate poverty and vulnerability, with the purpose of satisfying their basic food needs and achieving economic independence. It also seeks to guarantee access to education and health, which are fundamental rights.
The program will be implemented throughout the country, paying special attention to the 466 municipalities identified as priorities in terms of extreme poverty. More relevant benefits will be granted to households with children under six years of age and who reside in high-priority municipalities.
In certain departments, the assistance program will be expanded with the aim of reaching a greater number of homes. For example, support will be provided to 169,817 families in Antioquia, 156,032 in Bolívar, 137,555 in Córdoba, 126,792 in Valle del Cauca, 108,326 in Atlántico, 101,185 in Santander, and 100,790 in Nariño.
How can you collect Citizen Income?
The operational information of the program, including the method of delivery of the benefits (through banking entities or drafts), the places of payment, the scheme of peak and identification for collections and other important aspects, is available on the website of Social Prosperity. In addition, this information can also be obtained at the mayor’s offices of the corresponding municipalities.
Various options are offered to deliver transfers, such as wire transfers, deposits in bank savings accounts, extended boxes, digital wallets, and transfers through different partners. The beneficiary of the transfer will receive a text message from the corresponding bank, which will include information about the place designated for collection, according to their identity document. In addition, it will be indicated if it is necessary to follow a pico and ID scheme to make the payment.

On what dates are the Citizen Income delivered?
As of April 29, Prosperidad Social began the gradual distribution of the transfers corresponding to the Tránsito a Renta Ciudadana program. The first payments will be made in stages through Banco Agrario, with the goal of reaching more than 2 million beneficiary households before May 28. In total, the program will provide benefits to 3.3 million families.
Among the households selected to receive the approved transfer, 549,133 belong to families recognized as victims of displacement, while 167,056 households belong to indigenous communities. For the first payment, the National Government has assigned a total of 796,435 million pesos ($796,435,200,000).
How much is the Citizen Income bonus?
The purpose of the Citizen Income program, previously known as Transit to Citizen Income, is to guarantee that beneficiary families have adequate income to overcome the poverty line. Transfers are made every two months and can reach up to 1 million pesos, depending on various factors such as family composition, classification in the Sisbén group, territorial prioritization, and compliance with program obligations.
