Iceland occupies the first position in the ranking where gender equality is respected.
In Mexico, great challenges are faced in this field.
Social networks are a great field of debate for people.
Education in the classroom has changed over the years and all this because of the social issues that are important to people. Given this, a viral video of a teacher who has gone viral for teaching her students to iron, to promote gender equality in home activities, arose, receiving criticism from the digital pulse.
In this sense, despite all the efforts made in recent years throughout the world, full gender equality has not yet been achieved.
Given this, since 2006, the World Economic Forum has been preparing the Global Gender Gap Index, highlighting that in the 2022 edition, Iceland occupies the first position in the ranking for the thirteenth consecutive year, being the country with highest gender equality in the world, with a score of 0.908.
Likewise, in Mexico great challenges are faced in this field, where less than half of Mexican women of working age participate in the labor market.
Teacher teaches her students to iron
It was through a publication on the social network Facebook, that it was revealed that a teacher from the Sembrador school in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, generated a great impact by implementing an innovative educational practice in her “Work and Technology” subject.
The teacher who identifies herself as Claudia Mezza is causing controversy, for teaching 6th grade students skills for ironing clothes, with the aim of promoting gender equality and fostering autonomy and motor development.
After it became known that the teacher teaches this activity in her class, the initiative provoked positive comments and complied with the study program proposed by the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) of the South American country.
The publication highlights the importance of developing skills for ironing clothes. “The message is that electrical appliances do not have a gender of use, that so many women and men can carry out this activity to be productive in independent life,” Mezza said.
According to the teacher, the innovative practice seeks to enable students to apply at home what they have learned in the classroom, thus promoting autonomy and motor development. Furthermore, they want to promote gender equality by teaching these skills to all students, regardless of their gender.
“The teaching consisted in the recognition of the state of the appliance, from the cable to the plug, and in the understanding of its operation. The students learned in a practical and safe way to use the iron properly, ”he said.
And this is how social networks have become a space that generates debate among Internet users on sensitive issues for society.
