Google has announced that users can now establish login with ‘passkeys’ either access keys in your account Googlewhich appears next to the more traditional options of the password and the two factor authentication.
Access codes are an alternative proposal to passwords that link a private password with the user’s personal account and allow it to be synchronized between devices for use on the web.
Save in the device (mobile, computer or tablet) cryptographic information, a private key that generates a signature that is later verified by a server that it was actually created with that private key when trying to access a website.
Google last year joined Apple, Microsoft and the FIDO Alliance to develop support for access keys, and this Wednesday it announced its availability in the Google account, where users can select it or opt for the password or authentication multifactor for login.
Passkeys allow users to sign in to apps and sites the same way they unlock their devices: with a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock PIN.
explains Google in his blog.
One of their advantages is that they are able to overcome the ‘phishing’, and when synchronizing between devicesis useful for example if the user changes mobile phone.
The technology company has qualified that the access keys will soon arrive to Workspace accounts, where administrators will have the option to enable them for their end users during login.
