Our spy photographers have managed to capture one of the latest development prototypes of the new generation of the KIA Niro, managing for the first time to peer into the renewed and technological interior of the Korean electrified compact, which will feature two huge screens on the dashboard.
We have already spoken to you in detail on several occasions about the new generation of the KIA Niro and we have shown you several series of spy photos of test units of the model, generally hunted in Germany while shooting fully camouflaged during its development tests.
Despite the different series of photographs that we have managed to publish so far, we still had not been able to peek inside the new compact crossover, which, predictably, is going to receive a remarkable aesthetic evolution for adapt to the new design language of the Korean firm and accommodate a considerably more technological cabin.
KIA and Hyundai’s new strategy for the electric market will not pose any problem for the Niro as we know it, because This will share space in the dealerships with future electric models of the company, as is the case with the new KIA EV6. So the future KIA Niro will continue to offer a range similar to the current one, made up of three different versions but all electrified. On the one hand the rechargeable hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, and on the other hand the 100% electric KIA e-Niro.
What’s new?
Where if we are going to find changes is in the design of the model, which, as we have already mentioned previously, was partly advanced by the KIA HabaNiro concept presented at the 2019 New York Auto Show, although as usual, with a softened aesthetic and own production elements. So we should expect features inspired by said living room prototype but without elements such as its vertically opening doors.
The real scoop on this new series of spy photos is its interior, as the first two images in the upper gallery show us a much more modern dashboard that follows the usual scheme of the company’s latest products, with a large screen behind the multifunction steering wheel which acts as a dashboard and a horizontally-styled multimedia center screen that sits on a minimal center console, with very few visible controls, although under this we find a fairly wide central tunnel with more controls and the gear selector, so we can expect a very technological environment.
