Mexican pride! Guillermo del Toro won the Oscar for ‘Best Animated Film’ for the film Pinocchio.
The new version of Pinocchio shows unknown aspects of the work of Carlo Collodi. Unlike the Disney classic, Guillermo del Toro’s film was filmed in format stop motion.
Pinocchio wood is Mexican
It should be noted that the origin of Pinocchio’s wood has been an aspect stressed by Guillermo del Toro. Recently, in a clip produced by Netflix, the director and the cricket Sebastián proudly recounted the creative process of the puppet.
“When we brought this Pinocchio to life, we were certain that part of it had to be made of Mexican wood.” Guillermo del Toro mentions.
Meanwhile, Sebastián J. Grillo narrates that in his multiple trips he has met many types of wood, but never one like the Mexican one, so he decided to make it his home. “I understood that it is impossible to knock down”, the character mentions.
Among images of the process of making the puppet at the Taller del Chucho in Guadalajara, Jalisco, the character continues to celebrate that Pinocchio’s wood is Mexican. Finally, the cricket invites you to watch the movie without taking into account if you already know each other.
