One of only 4 manufactured copies of the original Lamborghini Miura SVJ has appeared for sale in the Kidston catalog, one of the largest specialists in classic parts from the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm. At the moment they have not declared the price, but considering that it is one of the most valuable Miura in history we can expect a figure with many zeros.
Any fan of the world of classic motorsports knows that the Lamborghini Miura is a true collector’s item and a very valuable model in any of its versions, although of course there are some units that are rarer and more expensive than others, as is the case with the few manufactured copies of the Miura SVJ, the most radical version of the model manufactured.
The truth is that any of the versions of the Miura is considered a collector’s item today, but units as rare as the few Miura SVJ (SV / J or SV Jota) are something very different and much more exclusive, since It is not only a version with a special and more radical configurationBut they were also produced in extremely low quantities.
The original Lamborghini Miura SVJ was born on the initiative of Bob Wallace, one of the Italian company’s test drivers and largely responsible for the development of numerous projects, who actually aimed to create a street version of the Miura with racing technology. This was the most radical variant of the model, despite the fact that the first prototype never reached the customer’s hands.
Limited production
The original prototype was sold to a VIP customer of the brand but suffered an accident before its delivery, but luckily this copy was enough to create some demand, so the company eventually made 4 units with the SVJ configurationAlthough only one was created from scratch with these specifications, the other 3 (plus an additional one created in the eighties) were conversions of other examples of the Miura SV. Although some sources claim that 6 copies were actually manufactured at the factory, in addition, many owners ended up transforming their units to SVJ specifications.
The unit that appears in these photographs has been put up for sale by the specialist Kidston and is the chassis # 5090, the only Miura SVJ built from scratch with this configuration, so we are talking about an extremely rare and valuable piece. Its price? It remains a secret.
