- Mexico attracts between 200,000 and one million foreign patients a year.
- The states with the highest demand for medical tourism are Jalisco, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
- Surgical interventions and medical treatments in Mexico are up to 80% more accessible compared to the United States.
One of the aspects that Mexico has taken advantage of in recent years is medical tourism. Both the affordable prices and the quality of the services have helped more and more foreigners travel to our country with the aim of undergoing an operation. This practice is on the rise and has also worked to motivate local health centers to beef up their facilities.
However, according to Statista there are just over 4,900 hospitals in the country. Although it seems like a high number, it is actually not enough to care for all the people who require medical attention. Similarly, it should be considered that not all of them offer comprehensive services for the patient or a personalized experience.
Against this background, Imagine, a comprehensive clinic dedicated to optimizing the physical, psychological and emotional state of health of people with complications associated with nutrition, announced a strategic union with the Sanmaré Hospital. The objective is to prioritize national and international patient care.
According to data from the Patients Beyond Borders consultancy, Mexico receives around 200,000 foreign patients, who come to the country to undergo medical treatment and surgical reversals.
Due to the above, this merger seeks to preserve the well-being of patients through a complete and individual follow-up before, during and after a surgical procedure with comprehensive treatments. For this purpose, it seeks to incorporate the medical care of specialists from different branches and thus achieve better results in terms of health in the short, medium and long term.
Hospital union for the benefit of patients
In this regard, Dr. Ernesto Urzua, coordinator of the Home Services area of Hospital Sanmaré, points out that with this synergy the Sanmaré Hospital and Imagine Clinic they can respond to the individual needs of patients with high-quality medical services. By having multidisciplinary treatments and personalized monitoring throughout the medical procedure, a faster recovery is obtained, with optimal results and long-term benefits.
For her part, Jimena González, a nutritionist specializing in clinical metabolism and a protein-containing diet and founder of Clínica Imagine, adds: “We are promoting the integration of medical services with patient care, since this is essential for surgical interventions of any kind. However, in the case of bariatric surgeries, nutritional consultations and psychological therapy make a big difference, since together they make up to 90% of patients recover quickly and successfully”.
And it is that, according to the Sanmaré Hospital, one of the most requested procedures in Mexico is bariatric surgery. In addition, treatments such as the gastric ring, the gastric balloon and the gastric band are added, options that allow optimizing weight control in people with morbid obesity. These types of interventions are attended under strict levels of quality and specialized care. Patients who undergo any of these treatments also need to have very strict diets to obtain ideal results.
High level medical services for medical tourism in Mexico
Mexico has become a paradise for medical tourism by having highly qualified services and personnel in the sector. For this reason, there is a great mobility of foreign patients to the country. Based on data from the Medical Tourism Association, a large part of medical tourists come from the United States because Mexican treatments are 80% more accessible.
With the alliance of Clínica Imagine and the Sanmaré Hospital, it is proposed to be able to care for foreign and national patients. By having specialties, materials and highly trained personnel, they will respond to the needs of the market, with which you can access better treatments and improve the quality of life in people.
