Balenciaga She likes to create controversy with her collections, but this time she is embroiled in a terrible controversy for an inappropriate campaign involving children.
The collection Spring ’23 it featured girls holding a teddy bear dressed in a BDSM outfit. Not only that, in one of the images that promoted a Balenciaga bag, a document from the Ashcroft vs. Free Speech Coalition on virtual child pornography. One more image from the campaign showed a redheaded woman at a Michael Boerrman desk with images of naked children.
Social networks react violently against the campaign
TikTok and Twitter users detected these partially hidden details in the images and questioned the brand’s decisions with the campaign that went viral for its content.

Balenciaga apologizes
Given the reaction of social networks, Balenciaga issued an apology on his social networks.
“We apologize for showing disturbing documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the campaign and including unapproved items for our Spring ’23 campaign photo shoot,” the company stated. ”We strongly condemn the abuse of children in any form. We stand up for the safety and well-being of children.”
Gabriele Galimberti disclaims
The campaign photographer, Gabriele Galimberti, also gave his response to the scandal over the “creative decisions” of the photographs.
“As a photographer, I was only required to light the given scene and take the photos according to my signature style. As usual in a commercial photo shoot, the direction of the campaign and the choice of exhibits are not in the hands of the photographer”.
“I am not in a position to comment on Balenciaga’s choices, but I must stress that he had no right in any way to choose the products, nor the models, nor the combination thereof,” insisted Galimberti, who said he had received hundreds of emails from hatred.
