Why is the movie worth watching?
The direction of this film is in charge of the Venezuelan Lorenzo Vigas. Thanks to his work in From there, got the golden lion of the Venice Film Festival in 2015. He became the first Latin American to achieve this recognition. We can also find the performances of Hernán Mendoza, Hatzín Navarrete, Elián González and Cristina Zulueta.
As you can see in the synopsis, Box it is a film that touches on strong or even painful themes for the viewers. It also talks about the disappearance of women, a complicated issue for current times. However, according to the director, the aim is not to make an apology for violence, but rather to tell a true story with themes that arose naturally.
This commented Vigas in an interview for dallasnews.
“If you are a sensitive person, it is inevitable that these issues come to you and you live with them, with this reality. I think that when you’re a creator, you have to be honest and talk about reality in order to create a discussion. I am deeply interested in the issue of fatherhood in Latin America, how the presence or absence of a father determines what we are willing to do to have one. That’s what the movie is about.”
