Through a new update, Facebook has ready a new search feature to give users the opportunity to choose what they want to see in their feed.
Over the years, Facebook, although it is the most used social network in the world, has been losing popularity thanks to the rise, mainly, of TikTokthe Chinese platform that has been placed in the taste and preference of Internet users since the arrival of the pandemic.
The social network owned by Meta, to date, has almost three billion users globally, being the undisputed leader on the digital scene, offering diverse experiences to its broad base of followers.
However, it is also known that, in recent years, the popularity of Facebook has been in decline, thanks, to a large extent, to the momentum that TikTok began to have as a result of the arrival of the pandemic.
The platform developed by ByteDance is today the most popular social network and the one most used by new generations. This means that, according to Globalwebindex, that young people between 16 and 24 years of age are more involved in TikTok than in any other social network.
Only these data speak of the low influx that Facebook is generating in the new generation of Internet users. In fact, in its most recent report, the social network revealed that monthly active users of the social network decreased by two million in the second quarter of 2022.
What is the reason for this stagnation? Reality dictates that today visual platforms are booming; TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat represent a different experience for users.
On the other hand, the CEO of the company mentions that a large part of this decline is also due to “internet blockages related to the war in Ukraine.”
Facebook users will have a new feed
Be that as it may, it is clear that Facebook is no longer the most popular social network on the planet, although, now, it comes with a new update for all its users, one very similar to what Instagram already did a few months ago.
What is it about? Meta’s social network announced that it will give its users the opportunity to customize their feedwhich means that from now on it will be the Internet users themselves who decide what they want to see first once they open the application, either on their mobile devices or in its desktop (PC) version.
In the language of the social network, users will choose to “Show more” or “Show less” in the posts of their friends, groups and pages with which they are connected.
It should be noted that this work will be carried out through the use of artificial intelligence, as the social network itself disclosed in a report.
“We are making our AI systems smarter and more responsive.”
