The tremor, which was first reported as magnitude 5.6 and was later adjusted downward, was recorded at 1:25 p.m. local time (6:25 p.m. GMT) with an epicenter 70 kilometers southeast of Tecomán, Colima, in the western state of the country. , according to information from National Seismological Service (SSN).
The earthquake originated near Coalcomán, Michoacán, epicenter of the tremors last Monday and Thursday, although it is not yet detailed whether this last movement is a replica of the September 19 earthquake.
The seismic alert for Mexico City was activated in certain parts of the metropolitan area of the country’s capital, where no damage has yet been reported.
This Friday’s phenomenon occurred after the earthquake that shook Mexico on Monday, less than an hour after the national drill that takes place every September 19 to commemorate the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes, which occurred on the same date and are considered the most destructive. of recent history.
While on Thursday a magnitude 6.9 aftershock was recorded at dawn.
Monday’s tremor left two dead in Colima, the most affected state, while Thursday’s tremor left three: two in Mexico City and a five-month-old baby in Colima.
