Squanch Games has acknowledged that the delay in High on Life’s release date is due in part to other great releases close to the previous date such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or God of War. The study has admitted that the launch of these great triple A games could cause High on Life not to have the impact intended at its launch. Despite this, it should also be noted that the study has confirmed that it needed more time to polish the game, so that is another reason to add to justify the delay of High on Life.
High on Life is an opportunity for the studio to shine, the game has been very well received by the public in its first presentations and was one of the most outstanding games of the Xbox & Bethesda conference in the past Summer Game Fest. This is why December seems to them a more interesting date to be able to have the attention of the public, since it is a month in which many big releases have not been concentrated in a short time.
High on Life’s delay is largely due to other releases like Call of Duty
For Squanch Games and High on Life it is very difficult to compete with important releases of the industry that have a greater marketing campaign and a very large legion of followers, as they are consolidated IPs in the market. Also, in the case of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it is a multi-platform release, so it could hurt the number of sales and players who dare to try it on Game Pass.
Despite all these difficulties, High on Life has plenty of reasons to shine with its own light. Its humor and the crazy nature of its weapons and characters promise to amuse us for all the hours that our adventure lasts, it is a game that has a great charisma and that has the creators of Rick & Morty among its ranks. Fun is guaranteed with the Squanch Games title.
