New games and novelties of previously announced titles will star in what promises to be a spectacular event.
Just a few days ago, the presenter Geoff Keighley confirmed the date of the Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live celebration along with its duration and number of games present. Now, Geoff teases that the event will include “some cool surprises and stuff i think people would expect“. It should be remembered that this broadcast usually offers a wave of great news. Without going any further, last year we had the announcement of the reboot of Saints Row, Marvel’s Midnight Suns or the release date of Halo Infinite.
This year, the Opening Night Live is of special importance because it will take place in Cologne (Germany) as an in-person event for the first time since 2019. In this edition, which takes place on Wednesday, August 25, promises to offer news of more than 30 games. Sonic Frontiers has been the first game confirmed for direct and as a novelty it has been anticipated that, for the first time, Keighley will be accompanied by a co-host from Germany, in the case of Natascha Becker, from the GameStar medium.
The announcement of new games promises to be inside “of a great show”, advance Keighley. “We have some great guests coming to Germany to join us on stage and also to reveal your games and show new content”. In fact, many of the titles expected at the Summer Game Fest will now be shown at the German fair, which leaves hope to see titles like Hogwarts Legacy.
Gamescom will focus on 2023 games
Being 2022 a year that has been somewhat light in terms of releases for Christmas, everything indicates that Gamescom will focus on games that will end up arriving in the year 2023 and beyond. “I think people will be excited and I’m really excited for players to see stuff and be in the room.Geoff concludes.
Will we have a big event at Gamescom? Xbox will have its own conference.
