breaking bad and Better Call Saul are some of the most acclaimed TV series in recent years, though from the looks of it, creator Vince Gilligan is poised to go beyond Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He recently talked in an interview about how some series really need to end and that there are series/universes that are overloaded. He doesn’t want the story of breaking bad and Better Call Saul is that, and it’s understandable.
The future of the franchise remains to be seen, but something that fans have been discussing lately is the possibility of a video game of breaking bad. An Unreal Engine 5 video showed the potential of an open world Breaking Bad game, and it’s something the franchise has toyed with in the past.
Now, during a recent interview with the Inside the Gilliverse podcast, Gilligan revealed just how close the franchise’s adaptations have come to video games. Well, a fan asked him if there would ever be a video game of breaking badand it should be noted that there was a mobile game in its day.
However, there has obviously never been a game of breaking bad high production, but it seems that Gilligan wanted a game inspired by Grand Theft Auto. He said: “I’m not much of a video game player, but how can I not know about Grand Theft Auto? I remember saying to the guys, who are now running Apple, who originally said yes to Breaking Bad, ‘Who owns Grand Theft Auto? Can’t there be a module, can there be a Breaking Bad? still makes sense to me!“.
Unfortunately, this never came to fruition, but Gilligan also adds that there have been some attempts at a Breaking Bad game. It seems that a port for PS VR was once developed, but in the end it was not carried out, like three or four other projects.
