Pokémon is one of the most profitable franchises worldwide, and its amazing creatures have earned the affection of many fans over the years. Over time, more and more Pokémon have been added to the Pokédex list, giving rise to the fact that we currently exceed 900 with clear expectations of reaching a thousand in the ninth generation.
Something that seems quite curious to us is that there are many Pokémon fans who have a special affection for the first generation, thus giving rise to the first 151 Pokémon being the most referenced and recreated by fans in different ways. While these designs were already simple, it seems that there are fans who want them to be even more basic, this being the case with Sandslash.

According to what has recently been seen in a drawing made by the Reddit user BlackCatJax, if we were to remove the spikes from this Pokémon, the result would give us a creature very similar to the standards of the generation, since it can be seen that this Pokénon would have a structure seen in other species such as Charmeleon.
Having said all of the above, it should be noted that Sandslash is one of the most beloved Pokémon of the first generation, this being something that has been reinforced by the fact that Game Freak itself gave it its own regional form, being in Alola where we could see an Ice/Steel-type Sandslash that traded its spikes for icicles.
We must mention that it remains to be seen if Sandslash appears in the ninth generation, since at the moment it has not been shown in any trailer, being that neither its basic nor its regional form has been leaked, so more than one fan You will have to be a little patient waiting for official information from Game Freak.
