Black Lightning is one of Iman Vellani’s favorite heroes and his quick death upset the actress.
After all the shocking events that closed a cycle for the Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness paved the way for a new heroine: America Chavez. Wanda’s journey to steal America’s powers generated mixed feelings among MCU fans, as, on the one hand, Doctor Strange showed who he is and what he is willing to do for humanity -and other companions- through multiple universes. ; and, on the other hand, Scarlet Witch’s interests indirectly revealed that there would be many events in the future that will set the course for the rest of Marvel’s heroes and villains. But the truth is that, although there were emotional moments after what happened in WandaVision and its outcome, the film also had its ups and downs.
Critics and audiences alike were left in suspense after the unresolved events of Doctor Strange 2. The shoot was often praised for its surreal details and the introduction of a new character, as well as what this would mean for future installments. . However, other heroes also had their respective opinions on the title.
Ms. Marvel Explains Why It Differs From Doctor Strange 2’s Approaches
On the eve of Ms. Marvel’s debut on Disney+, Kamala Khan, better known as Ms. Marvel, will be introduced (whose first appearance was in Captain Marvel #14, in August 2013; prior to her leading role in Ms. Marvel, in February 2014), to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is good news for fans of the heroine inspired by Caron Danvers, as we will finally see her on the big screen. Her role in the series will be played by Iman Vellani and her premiere has been announced with great fanfare by the franchise, thanks to the character’s peculiar approach.
And, speaking of the latter, according to the new series, Kamala Khan plays Ms. Marvel, a 16-year-old girl from Pakistan who lives in Jersey City. One of her greatest aspirations is art. Quite a dreamer and fan fiction writer, she longs to become a heroine like Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), given her admiration for the Avengers, until she manages to obtain the powers that have distinguished idols from her.
On the other hand, Vellani seems to be very knowledgeable about the MCU and has recently commented on his thoughts on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After emphasizing his fascination with other installments, he revealed that greatly displeased that the film featured an alternate version of Black Bolt (played by Anson Mount) only to brutally kill him moments later.
“I have a lot of opinions, which I don’t think we have time for,” Vellani explained in an interview with EliteDaily. “Here’s my TL;DR. I love Sam Raimi… I don’t care what anyone says. [Rayo Negro es] my man. I think they messed it up. I do not like that”.
For her part, the actress spoke of her position regarding the perspective that the Multiverse of madness addresses on Earth-616, because Marvel Comics has shown it from another concept.
“Every time I talk to Kevin, we have this discussion where I’m like, ‘The MCU isn’t 616,'” Vellani revealed. “He says: ‘It is because I say so’. And I say: ‘No, he is the 199999’ [una continuidad de la Tierra diferente previamente esbozada por Marvel]. Hates it. So we keep arguing and then they put the 616 in the movie. I tell him, “Kevin, you know he’s not 616.” And he makes a sad face at me. And I said, ‘Great’. […] Like Tom Holland and Peter Parker, Iman is much more of a Marvel fan than we thought.”
“[En el set] she carries this Unabomber notebook with her everywhere, with her doodles and ideas. And why wouldn’t we want to listen to them? Not only because she plays the protagonist, but because she would comment on the series on the Internet. So it’s best that she brings it up before the series is over, and that she tries to incorporate some of those ideas.”
It stands to reason that Vellani would have differed from Marvel, thanks to his extensive knowledge of heroes. But after he was cast in the upcoming Marvel series, along with Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur, expectations are high for the delivery of his first season.
