some games of PlayStation 1 and PSP have started appearing on the Malaysian PlayStation Store, in preparation for the launch of the new PlayStation Plus in Asia tomorrow. These games can be purchased without the need to subscribe to the service and include new features on PS4 and PlayStation 5.
At the end of April, five PS1 and PSP games were found on the PlayStation Network servers, in preparation for the arrival of the new service. Of these games, 3 were found on the Malaysian PlayStation Store: Ridge Racers 2, Worms World Party, and Worms Armageddon, as well as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.
The price of PS1 and PSP games varies from 20 Malaysian Ringgits ($90.64 MXN) to 39 Ringgits ($176.74 MXN). The description of the games says that they were converted from their PlayStation version to a PS4 and PS5 version, thanks to which they were improved with better rendering, the rewind function, quick save and customizable video filters.
Due to this conversion, the PlayStation Store warns that there could be times when the titles play differently than the original versions, in addition to not having support from PlayStation peripherals, so some features may not be available.
Last week Sony made a publication with all the games and benefits for PlayStation Plus subscribers in its different plans, and since then it had been confirmed that the Malaysian PS Store games will be available from launch, with the exception of Oddworld : Abe’s Odyssey and Ridge Racers 2.
The new PlayStation Plus arrives on June 13 in the Americas, in Japan on June 2 and in Europe on June 22. The plans available will be PlayStation Plus Essential (which replaces the current PS Plus), PlayStation Plus Extra (which combines it with PS Now) and PlayStation Plus Premium (which offers a catalog of classic games and exclusive demos).
Among the PlayStation Plus Premium classic games were confirmed for PS1, PSP, remasters of PS2 and PS3 games, as well as streaming PS3 games. In regions where streaming is not available, the plan will be called PlayStation Plus Deluxe and will have a slightly reduced price.
