nissan has presented in society its new and interesting electric vehicle. The nissan sakura has burst onto the scene with the aim of revolutionizing urban mobility in Japan. We are before a fully electric kei car which will be positioned in the range as a more affordable and casual alternative to the popular Nissan Leaf and the new Nissan Ariya. A model whose name refers to the Japanese cherry blossom.
Due to its status as a kei car type vehicle, the new Sakura stands out for its small size. However, and as we will see throughout this article, it has reliable features and extensive technological equipment. Let’s go into detail.
The exterior design of the new Nissan Sakura
is a model quickly recognizable. At the front, the huge grill stands out. A grill that is closed and on which is the new Nissan logo. It is directly connected to modern optical groups whose light signature draws a characteristic shape. The fog lights are located in a lower position. They are integrated into elegant trims.
The side view reveals the type of vehicle before which we find ourselves. This kei car will have to deal with crowded Japanese cities and, therefore, have the ability to move with ease and agility. And speaking of agility, it is important to mention that the Sakura has a turning radius of 4.8 meters.
Ending our tour of the exterior at the rear, unlike at the front, the taillights are visually linked, helping to enhance the car’s sense of width. We can not miss the rear bumper and the subtle roof spoiler.

The interior and technology of the new Nissan Sakura
Leaving aside the exterior, if we go inside the new Sakura we will find a small cabin in which there are a total of four seats. The “nerve center” of the interior is a 9 inch touch screen. A key component to drive the Apple CarPlay compatible infotainment system. It is combined with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
Nissan emphasizes that the seats offer a high level of comfort. They are upholstered in fabric. The level of customization of the cabin will be acceptable since the brand offers three colors: black, beige and blue-gray. In addition, the multifunction steering wheel can be wrapped in leather if we configure the optional Premium Interior Package.
Numerous storage compartments are scattered throughout the interior, offering a high level of practicality for life on board this electric. It also has cup holders in which to hold drinks and prevent their contents from spilling while driving.
The autonomy of the new Nissan Sakura
Let’s get into the decisive section, the propulsion system. The “heart” of the new Sakura is a lithium-ion battery whose capacity reaches 20 kWh. The main purpose of the battery is to power a small electric motor. 47 kW (64 hp) and 195 Nm of maximum torque. Thanks to this motorization it is able to reach a top speed of 130km/h.
The autonomy is up to 180 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle applied in the Japanese territory. And as for the charging times, they will vary depending on the electrical outlet used. The standard charge will need 8 hours to complete the recharging process. At a fast charging point, it will only take 40 minutes to obtain 80% of the battery capacity.
