In one of the least expected events that we could imagine, today we have received the news that Square Enix is selling all its western studios, along with IPs as iconic as Tomb Raider or Deus Ex. However, contrary to what one might have thought initially, this is not the case for all of their western properties.
Square Enix will retain some of its Western IPs despite getting rid of studios like Eidos Montrèal and Crystal Dynamics. Specific, the company Japan keeps Life is Strange, Outriders and Just Cause.
Life is Strange: True Colors and another game now available on Xbox Game Pass
All three are about IPs that have been very successful for Square Enix, such as Life is Strange, from which 4 games have already been released with great success, or Outriders, developed by People Can Fly. Also keep in mind that these are IPs that neither Eidos Montrèal nor Crystal Dynamics had been involved with, so it’s possible this is another reason why they weren’t included in the deal.

A new chapter in the award-winning Life is Strange series begins with a new protagonist and an exciting mystery to solve! Alex Chen has always hidden the curse from him: a supernatural ability to sense, absorb, and manipulate the intense feelings of others, which he perceives as colored auras.
