The next – generation consoles are just around the corner. The reservation period for Sony’s PS5 has already begun and that of the new Xbox Series X and Series S will begin tomorrow, so we only have to wait until mid-November for the first units to arrive at the homes of the players, and a One of the questions to ask is how much space they will occupy in the room .
Although we have known the official dimensions of each console for a long time, putting them in perspective and seeing how much they will occupy is not easy. However, Japanese designer Kei Sawada has created a series of illustrations that do just this: put the new consoles in perspective so we can get an idea of their size.
The new consoles, in perspective
The Japanese designer has had a very good idea; put the consoles in context using devices that we already know , such as a 30, 42 and 50 inch TV, a Nintendo Switch and the PS4. As we can see, the PlayStation 5 is considerably larger than all the consoles released by Sony to date, significantly taller than the Xbox Series X and somewhat less wide.
As for the new Xbox, the designer has not compared them to the previous Xbox, but we can see that the Xbox Series X is somewhat shorter than the PS4. The difference in thickness between the Xbox Series X and Series S is also striking, since the latter is more or less half that of its more powerful sister.

In his Twitter profile, the designer has shared another good batch of images with the PS5 horizontally and it is clear that the new Sony console is quite large, much more than the rest of the consoles released to date by Sony and Microsoft . Simply put, the PS5 doesn’t look like it’s going to go unnoticed in the living room.
If you want to put all the consoles in perspective and get an idea of their sizes, in Engadget we have made some interactive sketches to compare the dimensions of the next-gen , all Sony consoles and the main things from Microsoft. You can find them below. They can be rotated, rotated, zoomed in or out to view them from different perspectives.

Finally, in Windows Central they have made some photorealistic renderings with the models of the consoles that also help to put the consoles in perspective and have a better idea of their thickness. These reinforce the idea that Sony’s console is undoubtedly quite large, although not as thick as its more direct rival, the Xbox Series X.
