What would you do with 10 Gbps of download? Among other things, you could forget about things like “buffering”, that is, you will never be left with Netflix or YouTube “thinking” to be able to see the next video. But are we talking about something real, is it theory or do they only have it in Asia and the US? The answer is no, no and no, since not only Spain is a pioneer in these speeds and Europe is ahead of many other territories.
Being pioneers or leaders does not mean that we cannot also find these connections outside the community borders, since the USA, Singapore, South Korea or Hong Kong also have some similar deployment. But with Spain at the head, in the Old Continent we have embraced the technology that makes it possible, XGS-PONand which has allowed operators such as Orange and digi already have it available.
A small detail… the 10 Gbps in the majority is 8
What? How? Yes, as you read. Practically all the offers that we are going to comment on below have an annotation or small print that tells us that really, the usable bandwidth will be 8 Gbps because the rest is dedicated to ensuring connectivity between devices.
Oh, and also, they are figures “up to” and “to share”. That is, you can have, for example, 8 devices that will be connected at 1 Gbps each. But if there is only one and you do a speed test, it is likely that the 8 Gbps will not appear but also only one.
How much does the fastest fiber connections cost in Spain?
Starting with these two digi offers it in his Pro Digiwhere we can have up to 10 Gbps symmetrical, that is, with the same upload and download speed, for 30 euros per month. And so that we do not notice that we are missing «gigs» with the wireless connection, a Wi-Fi 6 Router for free.
On the other hand, we have Orange with your rates Love Total Plusthat after the initial discount for two months, the price of the rate is 110 euros, but it also includes GB and unlimited calls on two mobiles, Orange TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime for a year, which justifies its price a bit.
Outside of Spain, prices for 10 gigabytes
One of the last to launch a very competitive offer has been TIM in Italy, with its “Magnificent” rate in which the 3,000 chosen users will be able, for 49.90 euros per month, to test this connection if they contracted it before the end of January. It will cover the area of Milan, Turin, Trento, Trieste, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Cagliari, Taranto and Brindisi, and from February 27, it will be launched in other areas.
In other countries like France, the operator Free It already has this type of offer with its 10 Gbps … although without public prices since it is still under development and we have to contact the operator to see if it can offer it to us or not. And Orange, which has been a pioneer in Spain, is preparing it in its country of origin, but there is still no definitive deployment.
Finally, swisscom in Switzerland, gives the possibility of contracting its 10 Gbps at 65 Swiss francs, about 60 euros, and the Lithuanian Teth has recently joined those that have announced that they will launch it. Considering that its «gig» costs 9.50 euros, it may be the one that offers the cheapest 10 Gbps of the entire continent.
