A few years ago, Windows 10 released the Concentration Assistant, being the equivalent of the “Do not disturb” mode of mobile phones. Now, it seems that Windows 11 will take this option to another level by adding new configuration options and increasing integration with other applications.
Windows 11 will improve Focus Assist and notification management
In the Windows 11 2022 Update (expected around October), Microsoft will include several improvements to Focus Assist. input, this feature will be renamed simply “Focus”. In addition, we can no longer use it only from the Alarms and clock app, but It will be integrable with other applicationsas will be the case with Microsoft Outlook.
According albacorewe will have granular configuration options. For example, we can hide the notification icons and flashes on the taskbar during concentration sessions. Also, it will allow us to hide notifications and enable or disable this function in the Alarms and clock app.
On the other hand, the notification priority options will be more accessible in the Settings app of Windows 11. In this way, we can choose which apps can skip the restrictions of the “do not disturb” mode or, simply, which applications can send notifications to the user.
At the moment, these features are hidden and not easily accessible, but Microsoft has started rolling them out in the latest builds of the Windows Insider Dev branch. It is expected that in the coming weeks those from Redmond will begin testing them with users.
