Google Chrome is taking great efforts to include more intuitive privacy and security controls so that users take care of their privacy when browsing the Internet.
According to Google Chrome, users will have access to more practical controls so that it is possible to choose the options that best suit their needs.
To do this, a series of new tools have been launched and the privacy and security settings of the computer version have been redesigned.
This means that Google Chrome wants its new settings to facilitate interaction
Easy to understand controls in Google Chrome
With the new features, it will be easier to find the security controls thanks to its simplified language and the added visual elements.
- Cookies are easier to manage. Now, you can choose whether to accept the use of cookies and in what way by the websites you visit using third-party cookie blocking options in normal or incognito browsing mode. Furthermore, you can block all cookies on some or all websites.
- In the website settings options, the controls have been reorganized into two different sections to make it easier to find the most sensitive website permissions: access to your location, camera or microphone, and notifications. In addition, a new section is added that highlights the latest permission activity.
- At the top of Chrome settings, the “Google and you” section appears, showing sync controls. These controls allow you to decide what data you share with Google to store it in your account and make it available on all your devices.
- As many users periodically delete their browsing history, this control, “Clear browsing data”, has been moved to the top of the Privacy and security section.
Chrome security check
Google Chrome has included a new configuration tool with which you can confirm the security of your browser experience.
The security check will tell you if the passwords you’ve asked Chrome to remember have been breached, and in that case, it will tell you how to fix it.
Similarly, the browser will warn you if Safe Browsing is disabled. This is Google technology that warns you before visiting a dangerous website or downloading a harmful application or extension.
The security check also includes a new way to quickly check if your version of Chrome is updated with the latest security protections.
If malicious extensions are installed, it will tell you how and where to remove them.
Among other new features, Google Chrome has also set its sights on its incognito mode, through which users can have a more private experience.
With security controls, in addition to deleting cookies every time the browser window is closed incognito, Google Chrome will begin to block third-party cookies by default within each incognito session and a prominent control will be included in the new page when opening a tab.
You will be able to allow third-party cookies for specific sites by clicking on the “eye” icon in the address bar. This feature will be implemented gradually, starting on desktop operating systems and Android.
Enhanced Safe Browsing and Secure DNS
In terms of security, with this update of Google Chrome, two new improvements will come. On the one hand, Enhanced Safe Browsing. If you enable this option, the browser will proactively check all pages as well as downloads to detect dangers and threats such as malware or phishing.
And, on the other hand, the Secure DNS option, which will improve privacy when browsing encrypting with DNS through HTTPS the searches of where is the server of a web that the browser does when you connect to one.
This also prevents certain attacks that you may receive. Google Chrome will update to DNS-over-HTTPS if your service provider supports this mode. In the << Advanced Security >> options you can configure a DNS provider.
