The veto has not been lifted and the measures against the faster mobile network and its use in terminals with EMUI have hardly changed anything since then. Nevertheless, the models that were presented previously Due to this limitation or the impediment for the company to buy chips with 5G support, some users benefit from this option in Spain and in many areas of the world. Therefore, if this is your case, you are in luck, since in a way you are privileged.
It is expected that in the coming months, during 2022 Huawei will obtain all the necessary licenses and the ability to acquire 5G equipment for mobiles will once again be a reality. However, at the moment there is no news to confirm it, but the company is confident.
Does your mobile support it?
Before trying to connect our smartphone with 5G, we must know if it is compatible and the possible differences. The models are limited, as we have seen and to find out we have to look at the following list where we mention all the models that have arrived in Spain with this possibility:
- Huawei P40 / P40 Pro / P40 Pro +
- Huawei Mate 40 Pro
- Huawei P40 Lite 5G
- Huawei Mate 20X 5G
However, you can also check it yourself on the device box or by going into Settings> Mobile networks> Mobile data and looking at the preferred network type if it supports it.
Another difference that we can find out from the MovilZona comparator is the type of 5G network supported. There is the option NSA and SA, which switch to each other. The so-called NSAs are based on 4G technology to increase speed and achieve better results, while the SA has its own infrastructure with higher speed and advanced results.
Set up the network
In order to get the speed evolution to work in the terminals that accept it, we have to complete its configuration in the best possible way and without errors. Especially in cases where we are launching a device or phone company, we have to put a lot of emphasis on this whole process or otherwise we won’t be able to use 5G, but neither can you browse with other mobile networks.
The process begins as we usually do, placing the SIM card in the smartphone, entering the security PIN and now, with these steps:
- We access the Settings.
- We choose the menu Mobile networks.
- Click on Mobile data.
- And we are doing everything that we indicate below.
We recommend activating WiFi calls, in order to improve the quality and the result whenever possible, something that does not imply any cost in the rate.
We must also touch on Access Point Name (APN) and there create a new one from the options that appear in the three points, adding the name, servers and type of protocol that the operator must provide us with. In many cases, just by putting the SIM we get an automatic configuration adjustment or an SMS where these data are explained to us.
In addition, it is no less important to touch on Preferred network type and mark of course that 5G is an option. Whenever this is not available, it will switch to using 4G or 3G.
Problems and solutions
But beyond everything we have to know about Huawei’s 5G, there are problems that are not preceded by all of the above, but that happen to us on a day-to-day basis. Solving them is possible and many times requires more information that not everyone has, than a process with the mobile.
Impossible to work
In case you have tried to start up your Huawei mobile and this technology, knowing that you have a compatible smartphone, we cannot ignore other needs. Can not miss us have contracted a 5G rate and which must be activated by the operator. Without this, we will not be able to take advantage of the maximum speed.
The network is back to 4G
There are those who have achieved after these steps that everything works perfectly, but nevertheless when they go on the bus, enter the subway or arrive in a specific area they find that the 5G icon is changed on the smartphone. This is because not all areas of the cities, much less in rural areas, have this capacity. We can know through the following interactive map the areas where there are antennas ready and therefore maximum speed coverage in Spain.
Is it really 5G?
Although the icon may appear at the top of our smartphone, there are those who do not quite believe that the results they receive are what they wanted. We always want applications, news or even videos charge faster and that is why at some point we can doubt. With only test 5G network speed We are going to know the difference between this technology and 4G, which is not yet polished and will continue to improve in the coming months.
If nothing works
After having put into practice everything we have shown you, we can continue to face difficulties so that the 5G network appears on the Huawei mobile. In that case, we only have the option to return everything to the original state and go to our operator to make sure that this advantage is part of the rate, the most repeated problem among users. To restore it, you will have to do this:
- We enter the Settings.
- We slide down to System and Updates.
- Click on Reset.
- We choose Reset Network Settings.
- Then proceed to complete the process.
- And for them to be effective or the SIM configuration to complete, we must restart it.
Resetting the network is not a problem for it and only the configuration focused on navigation, WiFi and Bluetooth will be erased. Once this process is completed, you just have to repeat the steps seen before and check if now, the mobile allows us to take advantage of the network.
