- The case of an Amazon employee who does not receive her full salary has opened an investigation folder that has revealed many acts of labor injustice.
- The information came to light through a publication in The New York Times.
- In total, there is talk that 179 employees were affected, but this number could grow even more.
An Amazon employee has complained about the salary she receives and, as a result, an investigation has been opened that is revealing several irregularities.
The woman’s complaint even reached Jeff Bezos himself through his email and now, after the fact, several problems have been revealed that have the brand in check.
According to a post on The New York Times, cases have been revealed of employees who received their incomplete salary, even when they were workers who were discharged for medical reasons or disability.
These cases came to light after the worker in question had claimed that her full salary was not paid at a time when she was on maternity leave.
Given this, according to the New York Times, the worker addressed Jeff Bezos through his email to explain her situation.
As a result, an investigation began that revealed many more cases from the same court, employees facing a medical or disability situation who did not receive their full salary. In total, there is talk that 179 employees were affected, but this number could grow even more, as Amazon has said it will continue to investigate.
Another case cited by The New York Times relates how an employee did not receive his salary for several months and without a response from the company, a situation that forced him, according to the article, to sell his engagement rings to cover his debts.
Now, the company, according to an Amazon human resources specialist, Bethany Reyes, told the New York Times, is focused on solving this series of problems that undoubtedly put its image in check again.
Since previous days, there had been talk of certain injustices that the company’s workers were suffering, including underpayments, unjustified dismissals, among others.
To this, we must add the controversial case of Chinese companies that, first, Amazon eliminated from its catalog for, allegedly, placing false reviews on their products, with more than 600 Asian companies affected.
In response to this, the same companies countersued the company, turning this into a kind of campaign in which, for sure, it is not known what happened.
However, this investigation could lead to many more of other companies that are engaging in illegal practices against their workers, especially those that have a large number of employees (such as Amazon).
